1975 Fender Twin Reverb
Ahhhhh, what a treat. A 1975 Twin Reverb with some stories man, as all good old amps should be - thoroughly gigged and wearing the scars.
The amp had been cutting out and the owner wanted the amp serviced and checked out. There was lots of cosmetic damage but in general the circuit didn’t have any major problems apart from some slightly ropey previous servicing. What it did have was lots of wax all over the components, standard fair for these age of fender amps. Here is a before and after photo, the whole circuit is taken out and components removed, the board cleaned and components put back in with anything out of spec replaced:
The waxy build-up is not just a cosmetic problem, the black eyelet board which the components are attached to can then start to conduct electricity and affect the functioning of the amp. MUCH better to get the whole thing cleaned up, dodgy componments replaced and you have a beautiful amp back to sounding as good as it did when it rolled out of the factory.
